Microsoft: Xbox Live security strengthened, started with spring update

4.7
Despite Microsoft working to ensure the security of its Xbox Live network, the company has encouraged users to check their security information and update their passwords in a community blog post today. It's a cruel (virtual) world out there, folks.

It's all part of new security measures that Microsoft is employing, measures that began with the spring update issued last month. The update helped Microsoft "build on security enhancements for the near future," says Xbox Live general manager Alex Garden.

Xbox Live took its share of security lumps this year, including claims of a FIFA hack and purported Windows Live ID problems. In the community post, Microsoft also provides some general internet security tips – in case you didn't know it was a bad idea to use the same password for every site you've ever logged onto.

The Xbox security is really good, but I see they had to do this because some people were unlucky.

On a side note, can anyone tell me how to get my dashboard to be white like that besides putting a custom wallpaper? :o

Good. Updating security is always a good thing. There is no doubt Xbox LIVE is growing all the time.

Narcissist At least it wasn't as bad as Anonymous' hack on the PSN.

wtf are you talking about this has nothing to do with hackers ddosing a company this has to do with people getting others email and password and if you noticed i havent heard of any cases of psn accounts being stolen only xbox accounts all the other people that compare this to something with psn are dumb sony has the best security ive seen yet maybe not hardware wise but server wise and besides a group like "anonomous" or any others can easily take down microsoft didnt they take down mastercards site and paypal all you need is a few thousand maybe hundred thousand people willing to ddos with you to find the ip of the site/company just open a cmd and type a few commands

Yea be like the Halo 3 Pro and make your password, CAT. and then get hacked, good one! Simple and short... seems like a good idea! :troll:
