So far, fan response to this reveal has been immensely positive, matching the reception of the previous Wave 2, which came out back on August 4. When the Booster Course Pass was first shown off, there was some consternation over the fact that it essentially meant that the next mainline entry to the mega-popular Mario Kart series wouldn't be coming any time soon and likely wouldn't even release in the Switch's lifespan. However, most have undoubtedly warmed up the Booster Course Pass over time and are excited to experience the nostalgic content it is yet to bring. The full Wave 3 tracklist is as follows:
Maple Treeway (Mario Kart Wii)
3DS Rainbow Road (Mario Kart 7)
GBA Boo Lake (Mario Kart Super Circuit)
Tour Berlin Byways (Mario Kart Tour)
3DS Rock Rock Mountain (Mario Kart 7)
DS Peach Gardens (Mario Kart DS)
Tour London Loop (Mario Kart Tour)
Merry Mountain (Mario Kart Tour)
If you've kept up with leaks, there's a particularly curious thing about this list of tracks. In summary, back in August, a user found music files for certain tracks that, supposedly, were to be included in future waves of the Booster Course Pass DLC. Most of the future waves had only two of their tracks revealed, but Wave 3 had all eight tracks listed. Seven of them match the courses revealed in this recent trailer, meaning there is some veracity to this leak, however, one of them is different.
One of the music files was for a song that played in two tracks of Gamecube's Mario Kart Double Dash, those being Waluigi Stadium and Wario Colosseum. Therefore, it was understood that one of these tracks would be included in Wave 3, but it is clear that is not the case. The track that replaced this missing one was none other than Maple Treeway. Maple Treeway was also leaked, but it was listed as being part of Wave 6, meaning it wasn't meant to release for many more months. It's unclear why this change was made and if Waluigi Stadium or Wario Colosseum will be getting added in the future, but this leak is probably something worth going back to.
The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC must be purchased in its entirety at $24.99, or you can subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack for $49.99 a year, which will give you access to the DLC as long as you're subscribed. The Booster Course Pass still has 3 waves left to release, which will bring two cups each, meaning 24 more tracks in total. All waves will be released by the end of 2023.
