NBA 2K13 enjoys lack of competition, record sales

2K Sports' NBA 2K13 is reaping the benefits of EA's inability to develop a basketball game, with publisher Take-Two announcing the game has surpassed franchise sales records. Although no specific figures were provided, NBA 2K13 reportedly sold 49 percent more worldwide during its first-week sales than previous record holder NBA 2K11.

"Our early sales figures are a validation of our ongoing efforts to push this franchise to new heights," said 2K Sports VP of marketing Jason Argent. "We owe it to our great fans to continually improve our title - year in and year out - and that's exactly what we've done with NBA 2K13."

And, hopefully, Argent is sending an Edible Arrangement over to EA Sports HQ to thank them, as well. EA's canceled NBA Live 13, intended as a digitally distributed product, was the third year in a row Electronic Arts didn't show up for the basketball match.

Ea gave up on it's bball series so yah, enjoy top sales 2K.

Iglesias I thought it would sell a lot more since they actually added things to the game like the All Star events...

I didn't know there was that much of a difference in gameplay, I played at my friends house. That is what people were looking for I think, that's why I didn't buy it at least.

Mortar I am not shocked, 2K Sports' basketball games have always dominated, but if EA did actually manage to make their NBA Live 13 without any problems, there would have been a whole new chapter to this story.

NBA Live 07 was the best NBA Live game. Now, i don't think they'll ever be the best selling B-Ball game unless they really change and improve there game.
