Halo 4 leak: Microsoft perma-banning early players

Microsoft is reportedly issuing permanent Xbox Live bans to users found to be playing Halo 4 ahead of its official launch.

"During your suspension, you will not be able to log into Xbox Live," reads the Microsoft messaging sent to some members of the Reddit community. "Your Xbox Live privileges will not be reinstated."
Halo franchise director Frank O'Connor said over the weekend that he was unsurprised by the recent Halo 4 leak, which has seen copies of the game sneak into the wild almost a month ahead of the Halo 4 release date of November 6.

Microsoft said last week that it's "working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation".

Game early = modified Xbox. The terms of use state if you modified your Xbox you'd be permanently banned. It's not harsh, they should be following the rules.

To play Halo early you needed a modded/flashed Xbox. Breaks terms of use. Ban. :)


Can you guys not read or something? Look at the topics picture, a picture of Halo 4 the actual game. You do not need a modified Xbox to play a game that you can pickup from a store. My guess is that the games have been stolen, or could have been leaked from members inside the development team. Something along those lines.

That is a seriously good question right there, the retailer should be the one that gets into trouble, not you.


Yeah for MW3 one of the k-marts in my cities had realeased it about 1 or 2 weeks early just beacause they didnt know the realease date.

You don't need a modified console to play a legitimate copy early.
