Potions themselves have long been a staple of Minecraft's survival mode, providing players the means of enhancing their own abilities in a variety of ways. Gaining access to these items often isn't possible right off the bat, with players typically having to venture into the Nether dimension to gather the resources necessary to brew these potions. Though they've seen relatively little change since their introduction to the game, the most recent minor update for Minecraft makes some rather bold changes to these items.
These tweaks were highlighted by Mojang in the patch notes for Minecraft Java Edition's 1.19.4 update, where the developers stated that they have removed the glowing enchantment effect from potions to make their original colors more clear. In addition to this, the colors of some potions have also been altered in an effort to make certain potions more distinguishable from others. Most players will be aware that the enchantment effect is present on many of the more magic-related items in Minecraft to set them apart from other items in the player's inventory, with enchanted tools and weapons in particular sporting this visual effect. These visual tweaks to potions may take a while for experienced players to get used to, but they'll undoubtedly aid in differentiating some of the similarly-colored potions found in the game.
This small update brings along several other helpful changes as well. Modifications to horse breeding mechanics makes it much easier for players to obtain a horse with great stats, changes to recipe unlocks makes the early game a little easier for new players, and tweaks to the Jukebox improve its ability to interact with redstone components, potentially opening up new avenues for players who enjoy experimenting with redstone in Minecraft. Many more additions can also be found on the full list of patch notes.
Many players are still eagerly anticipating the full release of Minecraft's next major 1.20 update, which has now received the official name of the Trails & Tales update. Though the update still hasn't gotten an official release date, it has promised to introduce several new features and biomes to players' worlds, and is set to release sometime later this year.
