Accompanying the tweet is a photograph featuring a New Nintendo 3DS XL, a physical copy of the Go! Go! Kokopolo Anniversary Collection — the most recent Nintendo 3DS release from Limited Run Games, distributed last September — and a mystery 3DS game at the center, its cover completely concealed by a pixel mosaic.
Good night, Sweet Prince.

Yesterday, the 3DS and Wii U digital stores went down. Days like that remind us why we do what we do and why we'll keep on doing it.
We have one last 3DS release to give you—more news to come!#ForeverPhysical pic.twitter.com/CIDEx0vuH3
The tweet has been met with a mixture of confusion, backlash, and enthusiasm. While some are excitedly putting forth suggestions as to which Nintendo 3DS title Limited Run Games has plans to release physically — with the most popular guess being Keiji Inafune's famously crowdfunded 2D side-scroller Mighty No. 9 — others are questioning how it is exactly that Limited Run Games will be able to put forth this release, given that Nintendo allegedly ended production of Nintendo 3DS cartridges last year.
A vocal majority, meanwhile, have been launching accusations of hypocrisy at the tweet from Limited Run Games. "I don't think releasing limited runs of physical games helps game preservation any more than the eShops closing down did," says Twitter user @solarolai. Fellow Tweeter @nemikotwt shares this sentiment, sarcastically quipping, "Preservation is when you sell limited and exclusive physical releases of video games".
Some concern has also been expressed regarding region availability; the Nintendo 3DS is a region-locked console, and all Nintendo 3DS games previously released by Limited Run Games have been NTSC-only. Many Nintendo 3DS users located in European and Asia-Pacific regions are hoping that Limited Run Games will be offering a PAL version of the upcoming Nintendo 3DS release, considering that it is set to be the final one from the company.
