Super Mario Bros. Wonder Reveals Flower Kingdom Map

3.4
The latest Nintendo Direct focuses entirely on Super Mario Bros. Wonder with detailed new information regarding gameplay and an extended look at the new Flower Kingdom. The game will be releasing October 20 and will be the newest game in the Super Mario Bros. franchise.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder was first announced at a Nintendo Direct in June of this year and was immediately met with celebration from fans of the 2D side-scrolling classic gameplay. This will be the first traditional 2D Mario Bros. game since New Super Mario Bros. U, and it will also be the first time players get to visit the newly announced Flower Kingdom.

This new Nintendo Direct gives fans an exclusive look at everything they will need to know once the game releases in less than two months. Fans got to learn about Super Mario Bros. Wonder's new gameplay mechanics and characters while also getting to see the Flower Kingdom, the new land that will serve as host to Mario and his friends on this latest adventure. Prince Florian, a small Wiggler-type creature, is seen welcoming Mario, Peach, and more to the Flower Kingdom. However, Bowser shows up, uses a new Wonder Flower item, and merges with Prince Florian's castle. To save the day once again, Mario must traverse across the six distinct worlds that circle the central Petal Isles of the Flower Kingdom, making for a total of seven new worlds to explore. These new worlds include Pipe-Rock Plateau, Fluff-Puff Peaks, Shining Falls, and more.

Pipe-Rock Plateau is a land quite similar to many seen in the Mushroom Kingdom of previous Super Mario games. Fluff-Puff Peaks will take Mario to the clouds after jumping his way past the icy levels at the mountain's base. Shining Falls and the Petal Isles feature water and swimming, while a dessert, forest, and magma world also await. Unique open areas can be freely walked about, and courses can even be done out of order. A unique Course Select option in the new menu will also allow players to access any course at any time, a feature that is brand new in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

With a number of upcoming games for the Switch keeping fans in an almost constant state of excitement, this latest Nintendo Direct has built up even more hype for Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The game will be adding a massive amount of new content that has never been seen before in a Mario Bros. game while also staying true to the familiar 2D side-scrolling gameplay. With only a couple of months remaining before its release, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is already looking to be a massive hit and refreshing addition to the beloved franchise.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder releases October 20 on Nintendo Switch.
