Call of Duty development offer declined by Gearbox

You may be familiar with Gearbox, they are the company who developed Borderlands. Well, reports are coming out that Gearbox has turned down an opportunity to develop a Call of Duty game because their studio boss Randy Pitchford "saw no real challenge" in it.

During an interview several months ago with the German site KGN, Randy Pitchford stated that Gearbox only develops a game "when we can contribute to an existing brand something new - a kind of unique perspective and a new approach."

Mr. Pitchford does not feel that opportunity is present with the Call of Duty series.

Seeing how important the Call of Duty series is to Activision, and how dominant the game is due to a set formula the previous developers have followed each year, Pitchford went on to question just how much flexibility his studio would even have if they were to pursue the next Call of Duty.

Pitchford stated, "You have to play by the rules of the series." He then stated, "You have to do what is expected of a Call of Duty. In this I see but no real challenge for us. It would not strengthen our reputation as a studio, it would not be really motivating for our team."

I only like mw2 for trickshotting, I might sound noobish but yeah.

And old CoDs get hacked nice having a legit one.

If they just re-released cod 4 and 5 without any changes except fixes for the infections and so on it would be worth my $60 again.


MW2 is the best




Mw2 is not the best. World at War and COD 4 are. All people do in MW2 is run around with noobtubes and shotguns. The game is unplayable now because every game you get in is full of pathetic losers setting up trickshots.


The old games were sh*t. They were modded all the time.

BackHandLegend Anyone who is defending COD is obviously oblivious to what had been happening to the series. The game is exhausted, And really nothing has changed, same engine, same killstreaks, Same well... Everything. same engine because they can't make a superior engine that will work with technology from ten years ago. sure you could maybe tweak the engine but whats the point. they do fine with just changing the graphics. and same killstreaks? have you ever played cod yet? sure there is a uav on every cod but are you telling me there shouldnt be? and your tellning me that ur beloved cod4 looks and acts the exact same as blops2? seriously kid.


Yes I can agree Cod 4 is good only on PC tho it takes ages too find a game these day, they used the same engine like this guy said the Xbox is old and is coming too its end soon they are developing a new engine for PS4 and Xbox 720 but the current engine may be the same but they do still edit it and make it better have yoou seen Cods graphics on PC they are really nice! And remember Zombies are rules :p they made a multiplayer engine for it! Well added it
