PlayStation 4 rumours fly as Sony invitations hint at release

Journalists have been invited to February press conference. We suspect an announcement on the horizon.

Sony hinted at the possibility of the immediate announcement of their next-gen PlayStation 4 console on today, sending out invitations to journalists for a 20th February press conference on "the future of PlayStation".

With the press conference only 20 days off, many are beginning to suspect that it will indeed include a console announcement.

Sony declined to say whether they will actually release a new product at the event in New York. "We will be talking about the PlayStation business".

Expectation that Sony will reveal the specifications, if not the shape, of a PS4 console have been growing since it emerged that the company has stopped making its iconic PlayStation 2 console.

This would be the perfect time for Sony to announce their new console. As we all know, they did make some mistakes by not releasing, or announcing the PS3 before Microsoft announced the Xbox 360. They have said this time around it will be different.

What's the point in my paying to be able to play online? I mean come on. You even have to pay to 10 bucks to change your name.

Are they? I haven't used Sony much apart from the PS2 days. That sucks if you're right.
