GTA 5 delay: Rockstar dismisses conspiracy theories

4.7
Rockstar has debunked the "conspiracy theories" surrounding the recent Grand Theft Auto 5 delay.

While we do not know which theories Rockstar were referring to, we have the suspicion that it may have something to do with people thinking that GTA 5 may be releasing on Next-gen consoles.

But Rockstar insists that the only reason Grand Theft Auto 5 was delayed was to ensure the game meets customer expectations.

"To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they're all nonsense - literally the only reason we've delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be"

"For those of you asking about the official box art, that will be coming out a bit later as well."

Famous_Energy What they dont get is that we want the game now, they can do updates to the game if they need to.

I myself would rather have a game that is finished and there arn't any bugs/glitches than having to wait for updates to fix them just because the game got released 5-6 months early.

Thats what CoD fails on EVERY year!

It's been 5 years. You would think they would have a near perfect game by now.

It takes a long time to make a game as big as this perfect. The reasons its so easy to make cod games year round is mainly cause they do the same thing just new maps and some new guns. I rather have them take their time theres no reason to rush things. If anything this wait will make more people want it more.

also what makes you think they start making it asoon as gta 4 is finished. they have to come up with a story, where to have it, want they want in a game etc. also they would have made it from scratch not just porting it like some comapany i know. :D

You must not know what gaming companies do. They plan way ahead of the release date of the game their currently working on. There's always more than one team working on a game or across multiple games. They could've had the story ready since before GTA IV's release. They just needed the tech to make it happen. Upgrades and what not. Also GTA could also be a port. Engine wise since it's pretty much always the same. Just a different setting, different vehicles, people, and what not.

No. 90% of the articles I've seen published by companies are of them still finishing a story a year after the last game was released. Story takes awhile to get perfect. You're barely right on the fact that multiple teams are working on different games. Towards the end of development they typically use inactive teams on other projects, not always the next installment.
Bethesda is a fine example:
ES 1 - 1994
ES 2 - 1996
ES 3 - 2002
ES 4 - 2004
Fallout 3 - 2008
Skyrim - 2011

They still haven't announced Fallout 4 or the next Elder Scrolls. The pattern is a major game and minor releases in between. They have a small team developing DLC for each game while the rest works on the next project. Right now, most likely a small team is developing anything left for Skyrim, Dishonored and a few working with Fallout 4.

CoD is a really bad example, it's been proven they still have all of the coding from older games. WaW code is found in BO2. Horrible. That makes development faster especially since the engine is relatively the same and it's an FPS with very little story.
Rockstar Games Small Timeline:
GTA IV, Midnight Club - 2008
Sports games, Max Payne, other things they helped with - 2009
GTA DLC - 2009
Red Dead - 2010
GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas (Mac) - 2010
L.A Noire - 2011
GTA 3 for phones - 2011
Max Payne 3 - 2012
Red Dead revolver - 2012
GTA V and Agent (Announced for sometime soon) - 2013

They haven't been working on it that long, this is only a small portion of releases.

There are many many many many Rockstar studios... You are sooooo wrong

GTA = ROCKSTAR NORTH in the United Kingdom.

Red Dead Revolver = Rockstar San Diego

Max Payne = Rockstar Vancouver

LA Noire = NOT EVEN MADE BY ROCKSTAR, Just published by them!

Red Dead = Rockstar San Diego!

ROCKSTAR NORTH ONLY MAKES GTA GAMES! So you are completely wrong, they have been working on this for YEARS.

Rockstar is owned by Take-Two Interactive.

They make more then just GTA and they help other studios.

What's the point in arguing with a cod fanboy seriously?
I agree with you aswell i like TES but its not gonna change his mind.

Who's the CoD fanboy in all of this? No one brought up CoD except Mimz and Jason.

Kind of sad that it isn't going to be on next-gen consoles. But it's good to know that they're making the game perfect instead of releasing a game that needs to be patched all the time.
