Microsoft responds to creative director's 'always-on' console comments
"We apologize for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday," the response reads. "This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers."
"We are very sorry if this offended anyone, however we have not made any announcements about our product roadmap, and have no further comment on this matter."
Yesterday, Orth took to Twitter to publicly dismiss criticisms of always-online consoles, likely in response to rumors that the next-generation Xbox will require an online connection to play games. As of press time, Orth's Twitter account remains under lock and key.

Well this isn't surprising at all. He was out of line with what he said. It's not a smart move to speak to your audience in that type of way. I have had an Xbox gold account for 7-8 years, and I am seriously thinking about going to the PS4 if this is always-on thing is true (and this is coming from someone who always has an internet connection.) If you buy a console, you should never have to have an internet connection to play games. It will be a poor business move if they decide to go with it.

Jasonscootboy12 I personally dont like the idea. Cant use my xbox if I go to a hotel or on the road in an RV (which I don't even own lol). But not a smart business move for MS
Its not really for business though

JJmodernVivador The person should just be fired.
No he shouldn't people should stop crying over change,he has the freedom of speech
JJ you just contradicted yourself "people should stop crying"? No, they shouldn't the people are the consumers and if anyone should have a voice in something they want to buy it should be the consumer. Yeah that guy has the right to do what ever he wants to say and you're also right about the fact that he shouldn't be fire however he doesn't need to be really voicing his opinion the way he did, for the betterment of Microsoft not because I think he is wrong. Personally I think we shouldn't have this feature because what if you want to play but you don't have an internet connection I mean I'm 18 if I buy an xbox and get a couple of games today I won't need to worry about having an online connection which means I can play to my hearts desire sacrficing the other features that being connected to the internet provide. But with this "always-on" I would not be able to do that and I would have to make sure I buy access to internet from a provider and that may be more money I may not have at that point in time. Also the dude said that most things are already "always-on" he is living in and idealistic world where I am not my phone doesn't have an internet connection all the time, it simply doesn't have the capability, so yeah "always-on" isn't that great of an idea.
