Adam Orth leaves Microsoft following public defense of 'always-online'

4.5
Adam Orth, the Microsoft creative director who last week defended 'always-online' on Twitter, has left the company.

The news come via Game Informer, who were tipped by an unnamed source that Orth had left the company. The website later confirmed his departure with the Microsoft headquarters switchboard. It's not clear whether Orth was dismissed or voluntarily resigned.
Orth sparked internet-wide outrage last week when he vehemently defended 'always online' technology amid rumours the next Xbox console will require an internet connection.

"Every device now is 'always on'," Orth tweeted. "That's the world we live in. #dealwithit."

Microsoft later distanced itself from Orth's comments. "This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views are not reflective of those of the company."

Of course, Microsoft didn't comment on the specifics of whether they intend to use the technology in their forthcoming console, which is rumoured to be unveiled on May 21.

Twigz It's good that he left, Why would people buy something from a company if a member of staff was saying stuff to potential buyers.

That does not even make sense.

Lmao, that made my day. I think he meant to say, "Why would a company trust a staff member that was leaking out information that wasn't suppose to be out yet?"

But yea to everyone that thinks he quit, he more than likely was dropped from the company. It was said that he left the company to save face. This way Microsoft doesn't look like they dismissed him for a twitter post, and it looks like he manned up and resigned on his own.

Gossip Lmao he probably got shunned!

Yeah I guess popular opinion of the community and his attitude caused him to lose his job

Good. There was no need for the attitude in the twitter post. "#Dealwithit" disgusting.

This is just stupid, he shouldn't have quit. For those who say ''I'm a butt-hurt fan-boy and I'm glad he quit.'' I hope you realize that if you're a fan of xbox then you're his fan too.
