Adam Orth leaves Microsoft following public defense of 'always-online'
The news come via Game Informer, who were tipped by an unnamed source that Orth had left the company. The website later confirmed his departure with the Microsoft headquarters switchboard. It's not clear whether Orth was dismissed or voluntarily resigned.
Orth sparked internet-wide outrage last week when he vehemently defended 'always online' technology amid rumours the next Xbox console will require an internet connection.
"Every device now is 'always on'," Orth tweeted. "That's the world we live in. #dealwithit."
Microsoft later distanced itself from Orth's comments. "This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views are not reflective of those of the company."
Of course, Microsoft didn't comment on the specifics of whether they intend to use the technology in their forthcoming console, which is rumoured to be unveiled on May 21.

o0Sgt_MaRs0o I don't see the need for the internet to turn into a little girl because of "always online." Yeah he said it a little sarcastically. But just grow up, the real world is rough. Plus technology is always getting better, who's to say that in five years there won't be any downtime on internet world wide?
It has nothing to do with downtime. You wouldn't be be able to use your xbox, AT ALL, if you were ANYWHERE without an internet connection.

DubleJayJNV_LobbysBias Always online isn't really a problem. My laptop is always online.
Really? Try disconnecting your internet connect and try opening notepad, or play a video, hell, try playing a PC game. You're just as naive as Orth.
And? You can still do those things. So what's your point?
He said that his laptop is always online. You can still use your computer with or without an internet connection. With the next xbox, you can't, if the rumors are true. So saying "Always online isn't really a problem. My laptop is always online." is stupid because he is comparing something that will work without an internet connection, and something that wont.
