STALKER 2 File Size Revealed

3.4
Can you believe the wait is finally over? After a legendary effort that survived a war and a complete studio relocation, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is on the cusp of release.

This time, there was no indication of impending delays, and developer GSC Game World confirmed that by finally releasing the official minimum and recommended requirements for the PC version.

Compared to many newer AAA titles with comparable graphics fidelity, STALKER 2 looks like it did its homework to ensure that it does not require a supercomputer to run.

One of the main selling points of STALKER 2 is the addition of a continuous open-world map. This breaks from the segmented areas linked by transitions in previous STALKER titles, but the level of fidelity and sheer size make themselves felt.

According to GSC Game World, the PC version of STALKER 2 requires a whopping 150 GB of space, and the developer clarifies that an SSD is required to run the game smoothly.

The new map of the Exclusion Zone has 64 square kilometers (about 25 square miles) of radioactive horrors to explore, which is not particularly huge compared to other recent open-world titles.

Death Stranding, released in 2019, covers 595 square kilometers (230 sq mi) and has an initial file size of 80 GB. Similarly, Ghost Recon Wildlands scores 640 sq km (247 sq mi) within an 82 GB install requirement.

The map in STALKER 2 is more densely populated than the tropical beauty of Bolivia or the barren wasteland of post-apocalyptic America, but 150 GB is a lot of storage.

I'm excited to see what this game has to offer, not surprised by the size of the file at all.

High file size is the norm now days anyways if you don't have over 1Tb you won't be playing much

Yeah, 150GB is a lot, but considering the massive map and overall scale of the game, I think it's reasonable.
This is the only game that's really got me hyped this year, and I can't wait to jump in and hopefully not be disappointed... Just a few more days to wait.
LET'S GOOOOO!

Mad to think there'll be a massive world game that's some how smaller file size than COD. They take the piss.
