Xbox One will not suport current-gen gaming headsets

According to an IGN source, the new data port is indicative of a new Microsoft strategy to take control of the accessory market.
The new port means that current headsets by leading accessory manufacturers, including Turtle Beach, will not work with Xbox One.

According to the source, the propriety data port means Microsoft can control the production of third party peripherals with licensing and authentication standards that manufacturers will be required to meet.

When questioned on the subject, a Microsoft spokesperson said the company will share fresh details on how third party peripherals will work in the future.

"We are working with 3rd party headset manufacturers to create new headsets that will take full advantage of the Xbox One technology," the rep said.

Xbox One will come bundled with a new iteration of its Kinect technology. The hardware features voice technology which will allow chat both in-game and via Skype.

Oh come on. i have been using the original Xbox mic that came with the first Xbox. But at least it hopefully will be 20-30 dollars and not some outrageous price with the new one.

This is annoying.. cant play old games on new xbox.. cant use my turtle beaches with the new xbox, Im debating if I even want it.. becoming to much $ to keep up.

Only bad thing now is your old ones won't sell for that much now, that they won't be compatible....

TrojanOG This is a big upset, not only will companies such as Turtle Beach, and Astro have to make new headset's but the prices will probably be more expensive that the current Gen headsets. and to @iJarH3ad Kinect mic's sound horrible, always echoing and unnecessary noise pickup



Actually, my cousin owned the Kinect and it can pick up the sound of car passed by his house..



Thats half the problem , its too sensitive and the upgraded Mic. will not be able to help as it will still pick up background noises




You saying Kinect 2 will still pick up background? I don't really understand what you're saying, but if you really said that, then I would like to see the information where you find it.....?
