More Than 250 Naughty Dog Devs Have Worked on Intergalactic

Possibly one of the biggest reveals at The Game Awards is Naughty Dog’s latest project titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. If you like what you’ve seen so far, it’s due to the hard work of a lot of devs at the studio and even outside it.

Intergalactic Has Been in Development Since 2020, and Has Over 250 People at the Studio Working on Its Development

In a recent interview with the New York Times (locked behind a paywall), Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann claims the game’s story is “ambitious,” it deals with a fictitious religion, “what happens when you put your faith in different institutions.” It’s also been shared that more than 250 Naughty Dog employees have worked on Intergalactic over the past four years, and this is in addition to outside artists that Druckmann tapped to work on the game.

While there’s still a lot of questions about Intergalactic’s gameplay mechanics and whatnot, we do know the story. Druckman has revealed, “Intergalactic stars our newest protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. In fact, anyone who’s flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.”

Interestingly, one of our previous reports about a PlayStation game featuring “intense violence” points to Intergalactic, as a female character’s face in the casting call matches what we see in the trailer.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has no release date yet, but it’s confirmed for release on the PS5.
