Former Nintendo Exec Says Switch 2 Leaks Have Company "Uncomfortable"

0
If you've been on the Internet at any point over the last week, there's a good chance you've seen what are purportedly leaks of the Switch 2 — the planned successor to Nintendo's hybrid console.

Over the last week or so, alone, there have been leaks revolving around how the Joy-Cons might work, several third-party accessories and even a mock-up of a potential Switch 2 logo. For its part, Nintendo has stepped out of the shadows to dispel the rumors. Speaking to Japanese publication Sankei, Nintendo said simply, “These images and videos are not official.”

Those who have been involved with Nintendo in the past have all had different takes on the situation. For example, Krysta Yang, a former marketing employee said, "As wild as these leaks are, Nintendo is going to stick to their plan." Meanwhile, an insider shared that Nintendo's PR folks find the whole situation "funny."

In the time since, another former Nintendo employee has offered a different take on the situation — frustration.

Nintendo Is Seemingly Feeling The Heat
In a Patreon video, Kit Ellis, Nintendo of America's former director of social media marketing and original content, discussed the ongoing saga of Switch leaks, helping paint a different picture entirely.

"It's not a great time for them now, it's an uncomfortable time for them now," Ellis said, per a transcription by GamesRadar. "They don't like what's happening, but once they announce this thing, and show games, and they're off to the races, and they're sharing their information... a lot of this is going to be in the rearview mirror."

Ellis did note that "the most important thing" is that no Switch 2 games have leaked yet. Indeed, no games have leaked, though a potential release date for Pokémon Legends Z-A did leak, however, that game has already been announced. Still, based off those comments, it can't possibly be a fun time if you're working at Nintendo. Hopefully, it won't be long before everyone can put this saga behind them.
