Call of Duty: Ghosts won’t make use of always-online option

4.6
Infinity Ward has said the ability to use the always online option on next-gen consoles isn’t something the firm has explored just yet.

Speaking with Eurogamer during a Call of Duty: Ghosts demo, producer Mark Rubin said while it is something the firm may look into in the future, the team is focused on fun first, and not tech.

“It’s not really something we would explore just yet,” he said. “I’ll be the first to admit, we’re not the tech chasers. We’ve never been the most hi-tech, super graphics check-box list guys. We try to make fun first. Then if tech helps make fun better then great. If not then we don’t really need it.

“There’s interesting stuff out there. I’m totally engaged as a developer in what we could possibly do. But we’re going to take it safe and make sure it’s actually benefiting the game first before we just go check that box.”

For now, though, it’s not in the card for Ghosts – but a Wii U version is: a version Rubin said to “stay tuned” on.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is out in November and will release on PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Sorcery Infinity Ward taking their first steps to becoming good people, this brings a tear to my eye!

Because Robert Bowling isn't there to mess things up like he did. He wanted MW3 to be how he wanted it and that's all. Now that he isn't there, they can focus on the game more without having to worry about Robert Bowling complaining about something he doesn't like.

Don't jump to conclusions guys.

This doesn't entirely mean that it's the developers choice, though I really hope it is.

There may be some hope for the Xbox One with this announcement, I can't imagine much developers would care for always-online gaming.

-LOST- So only certain game will have to be always online?

I think so

Depends on system. Sony will allow the publisher to decide if you have to be online or not. Microsoft forces you to get online... thats basically the comapanys policy. The publisher doesnt really have a choice.
COD Ghosts for ps4 wont have an online pass or anything... theyd probably get a lot of hate for that and they make enough money as it is.

Oasis This just proves it's up to each game, not the console.

Any other particular sources? Besides this article.

That might make me consider getting the Xbox One now, I was planning on getting the PS4 but if it's up to each game, then I may be sticking with Microsoft.

ShadowBoltDashie Well that's good to hear. Now you won't have to be online to play campaign or the new Ghost ops or whatever they're being called.

Yeah I agree. Very good
