Xbox 180: Microsoft to 'completely reverse' its DRM control on Xbox One
A new report from Giant Bomb states that Microsoft will drop its DRM control with Xbox One and the need for the console to log in online every 24 hours.
According to the GB report, the following will occur:
• No more always online requirement
• The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
• All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
• An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
• All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
• No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
• Region locks have been dropped
Discussion of the recent changes can be found within this thread - http://www.thetechgame.com/Forums/t=5363350/microsofts-announcement-about-xbox-one-19th-june-2013.html
"An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games - After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
"Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today - There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.
"In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console -- there will be no regional restrictions.
"These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray."
The benefits are obvious - Xbox One will be usable with or without an internet connection, dispersing the fears of a vocal and outraged crowd who staged a backlash against the original online-reliant policy.
The changes also re-open the door to game rental services, the lending of games between friends and the purchase and sale of used games to anyone, anywhere without fear of DRM control.
And a region-free console will mean gamers will be able to import titles from other regions without restriction.

-Brayden Now they're trying to compete with the PlayStation 4, I doubt they'll drop the price $100.
Even if they don't drop the price, this dropping of restrictions has made a ton of people reconsider to look at the One some more. The Xbox could be $100 cheaper if it didn't include the Kinect, but since that is manditory, they won't be able to drop the Kinect or the price.

-Frys- I might change my mind about it but the price is still
out of control
Price is out of control hmmm... Remember when the ps3 1st came out $499 / 20gb, $599 / 60gb.... I said my point.

-The public fights back against their **** like they should
-Microsoft realize they are in trouble
-They panic and change the Xbox One
-"Oh h-hey guys t-thanks for showing us the error of our ways"
-People buying right back into their ****
If you support Microsoft after what has come to light in the last few weeks, then I hope you realize that you literally have no respect for yourself as a consumer and are a complete idiot.
I can't believe people are so ready to throw money at a company that, four days ago, was perfectly prepared to **** you in all the ways you could be **** in regards to gaming."
I saw that post on another site, and quite frankly, describes the situation 100%.
Imagine this:
You go to a restaurant (Microsoft) to get a meal (xbox 360). This meal is good, so you come back later to get the next meal (xbox 1), but before you eat it, you realize that it's been poisoned, so you and everyone else complain, then the restaurant gets rid of the poison in their meal (xbox 1)
Just because they got rid of the poison, doesn't mean they weren't trying to poison you in the first place. Why would you buy from them knowing they tried to poison you? Sure, they got rid of it now, but that doesn't change the fact that they were originally trying to poison you.
I agree there trying to pull this off like they're the good guys but it's just for money. To be honest I wish there was like an option to choose DRM when setting up or something because I was actually softening up to it.
YES, Make it so you have a choice. If you say yes you get all the benefits, if no then why did you buy the xbox one for anyway.
Akon_Fanboy is crazy. Buying the console now means that they learn a lesson never try to do stupid thing before know what people wants. Akon set a very bad example that doesn't make any sense.
