Xbox One: Microsoft explains why it doesn’t include a headset

4.8
Xbox One consoles will not be bundled with headsets because it comes with Kinect, Microsoft has said. The company has issued a statement on the matter

In a statement to Ars Technica, a Microsoft official said, “Xbox One does not include a pack-in headset accessory.

“Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences. For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire.”

Sold separately, the Xbox One Chat Headset has not been priced, but it is confirmed as having mono sound, a directional mic, volume control and a mute button.

Kinect does have cameras sure, but it’s no use to people who want to play a shooter and who doesn’t want to have the sound of gunfire blaring across their home while their kids are trying to get some kip.

Kinect Mic on the 360 is horrible, i hope it's not the same

no matter how good the microphone is in the kinect, it will not make up for the tv noise, nor will you be able to hear anyone else talking. xbox one should come with a mic.. it is the only logical way of doing things.

VanCity Well, I hope it doesn't sound like the Xbox 360 Kinect!

I hate it when I join a game and all I hear is some high pitched bubbling noise coming from a 12 year old's kinect. It's pretty stupid, and if that's how the kinect hears the commands I don't know how it recognizes them.

ThisIs50 I am definitely going to get the mic!

they are giving a kinect for a mic so its not too bad, plus a normal mic is around 5-15 pounds normally :L aswell as that, they have said about some adapter thing so you can use your 360 mic, so its not too bad.

Yin As much as this does make sense, it's just a terrible idea. I just don't see the Kinect microphone being that reliable or good. They better hope that it doesn't pick up the sound of TV's somehow. Multiple people being in a room at once will also get annoying. Oh well. It's not like I ever talk or listen to people other than my friends anyway. It's still dumb though.

What sucks though is the people who mute their mics because of parents or other people in the room won't be able to mute the Kinect now. Unless they put a button on the Kinect or something there will be some people who will be having some unfortunate incidents that people will hear.

I hope that they make it so that the kinnect 2.0 dose't have that underwater voice sound that is annoying & everyone hated except kinnect users

xDiLL I'm tired of your crap Microsoft.

Lol, I am tired of you. But I don't tell that to everyone. I am sure the original mics will only cost $20 at walmart.
