Xbox One: Microsoft explains why it doesn’t include a headset

Xbox One consoles will not be bundled with headsets because it comes with Kinect, Microsoft has said. The company has issued a statement on the matter

In a statement to Ars Technica, a Microsoft official said, “Xbox One does not include a pack-in headset accessory.

“Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences. For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire.”

Sold separately, the Xbox One Chat Headset has not been priced, but it is confirmed as having mono sound, a directional mic, volume control and a mute button.

Kinect does have cameras sure, but it’s no use to people who want to play a shooter and who doesn’t want to have the sound of gunfire blaring across their home while their kids are trying to get some kip.

Here come the kids that scream and yell, have the voice play through their TV so people's voice echo, let the game sounds echo through the Kinect and who have parents that yell at them non stop .-.

They said that the new kinect is gonna be setup to only recognize your voice and block all other sounds so yea, Im pretty sure they know how annoying the first kinect was and they fixed that

Sorry but they confirmed that xbox 360 headsets won't work on xbox one

I remember someone telling me in another article that Turtle Beach and Astro are building an adapter so the current headphones will work on the Xbox One. I'm just hoping that the lobby chats aren't filled with Kinect mics, that will terrible.

Couldn't you just put your Kinect on the floor and your xbox on on your desk/table or something so the camera cant see you but the voice commands still work, or you could just turn it off at the plug at night if your that bothered, but they would only see me snoring haha.

-Moneybagz- If i play with my Astro A40s and hook them up thru the optical port and until astro makes a adapter for the chat i will just turn my monitor all the way down and play all sounds thru my headset..but my question is this..if i do this..will i be able to chat thru the kinect sensor with the monitor turned all the way down. i know i will hear the game sound and my friends chat thru the HEADSET right but will i be able to talk back to them and they hear me??

Thats a great question. I have AX Pros and I could do the same as well. But I don't believe MS or Sony will ever say if current accessories will work on their consoles.

They already did say they won't work... Why is there always a person that post this on every single news article? Pay attention to the news. Also to Moneybagz you should be able to do that. You will be hearing your friends though they will be quieter and it could be harder to hear them. I've listened through my turtle beaches and talked through the Kinect so it work but not well.
