Sony declined to bundle PS4 camera in order to best Xbox One price

Sources close to IGN have said the PlayStation 4 camera was nixed a bundled add-on with every PS4 in order to knock $100 off the original price of $499. Which is the same price as Xbox One.

Sony only informed its retail partners the camera would not be included, but never specified a lower price point in order not to tip off Microsoft before its own reveal, according to the report.

This goes against what various Sony execs have previously said, particularly Shuhei Yoshida.

IGN notes that it may have ‘beaten’ Microsoft by making the camera optional, but it has also diminished consumer adoption of the product, not to mention creating an inconsistent software support.

Illuminatiii_X Well, dumbasses who claim the PS4 is better based off of prices, there is your price difference. The Xbox One costs $100 more because it comes with a kinect which is already better than the PS4 camera (1080p hd, 8 face recognition, and voice recognition.)

Playstation Camera has two 1080p cameras and voice recognition.


but does the ps4 cam move... no, the Kinect automatically adjusts itself to where you are so it can accurately feed readings from you, it also has the most accurate sensor in the market, the ps cam doesn't


The thing is though not everyone wants the Kinect or PlayStation Camera. I know I don't want the Kinect, it's going to just take up space.


I myself don't want a Kinect or a PlayStation Camera. I would like to simply sit down and play games in a simple manor without worrying about any of that stuff. That is why i buy a console instead of a PC


I have everything organized a certain away. I have an L shaped desk so when I want to play I can move my chair a few inches over and then relax there. I don't want to fell I have to position myself a certain way in order to have the Kinect read me properly(If that's how this Kinect is designed.)


Moving around due to a camera would be annoying. I have certain ways that i like to sit when playing games. I prefer not having a camera what so ever when playing games, it is not needed in my opinion

I don't know about everyone else but when i play games i would simply like to be comfortable and through this i need to sit in a certain position that does not revolve around the use of a camera. At least we now know why the PS4 price is lower than the Xbox One price
