Sony Confirms PlayStation 4 Does Not Have a Power Brick

4.6
Shuhei Yoshida, Sony President of Worldwide Studios, has confirmed via Twitter that the PlayStation 4 will not use a power brick. Instead, the power supply will be housed internally, not unlike the Xbox One.

Additional details regarding the PlayStation 4's power supply and how the company managed to fit it within the console's relatively small casing are still unknown, but at least we have a better idea of what Sony has in store for us later this year.

People are acting like this is the first time they are doing it. The PS3 was the same, it didn't have a brick just a power cord. Stop being fanboys, it's seriously annoying.

bigchukka I Bet this will have so many issues.

I dis agree

It depends how Sony implements it. If they have planned against things such as over-heating issues i do not think they will run into a lot of problems.

Busselton Sony are trying there best to be better than the Xbox One, someday they will screw up because of changes like these.

i know right. they should just be like Nintendo. just let the people have fun. Microsoft have already screwed up.

Artro Are power bricks a good thing or a bad thing?

Their good in the sense that it keeps the device from bieng fried by your ac outlet, bad in the sense that its big and sometimes no space to put it in rare occasions

It seems that both Sony and Microsoft are against the use of them though. To be fair Power Bricks do take up a fair bit of space and make the console a little less efficient.

It actually does. I keep the power brick on top of my Xbox 360. I have my computers, TV and my Xbox 360 on the same desk so I try to keep as much space as I can and that power brick does take up space if I put it behind the console or somewhere else so I keep on top of the 360 to save room.

I myself think that consoles should not have external power bricks for this reason. They could also be a potential trip hazard if you think of it. I usually need to put by power brick behind my desk where it gets tangled up with every other wire i have
