Sony Confirms PlayStation 4 Does Not Have a Power Brick

4.6
Shuhei Yoshida, Sony President of Worldwide Studios, has confirmed via Twitter that the PlayStation 4 will not use a power brick. Instead, the power supply will be housed internally, not unlike the Xbox One.

Additional details regarding the PlayStation 4's power supply and how the company managed to fit it within the console's relatively small casing are still unknown, but at least we have a better idea of what Sony has in store for us later this year.

RATF i can just tell that this will lead to overheating. internal power for these consoles is not that much of a good thing. the only thing this helps with is the fact that if you are going away somewhere and you want to take the console with you then you can do that without needing a lot of space

That is a very good thing it will be taking up less space, but I think because the power supply inside of itm it should have some kind of cooling system. Overheating should have been one of the first things they thought about so they should have that covered.

Both of the consoles are not going to have power bricks. The power supplies will be integrated in the consoles. Hopefully this does not lead to overheating issues and such

I'm sure there will be some sort of ventilation cooling inside the console itself, I am used to watching a movie and leaving my Xbox on, so lucky the 360 had that setting were you can set to when it turns off. I'm sure both consoles will have that mode.

Yeah. I expect them to implement something along the lines of internal cooling for the power supply. The PS3 did it so i don't think the PS4 should have much trouble

Yeah, that is true. To be honest the only games i played on the PS3 was Aliens vs Predators and MW2, didn't have much fun to be honest. Used it as a bluray player to watch movies and thats it lol. I probably underestimated it and it is way better than what i do with it, I'm sure the PS4 will do great, I'm not getting it at all but I'm sure it will be a great tho. :)

I had a lot of fun with the PS3. I mainly used it for single player though, i prefer the Xbox 360 for online games and all. Seeming that i only play single player games these days the PS4 is where i am going to go. It's a big plus for the console not to have a power brick in my mind.

VanCity Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Anger. Anger will happen .

Don't know what anger has to do with this. If it's inside the console it takes away space and you don't have all these wires lying around. Now if you mean anger as in raging and picking up the console and shaking it and throwing it, then that's the person's own fault for doing it.
