Sony Confirms PlayStation 4 Does Not Have a Power Brick

4.6
Shuhei Yoshida, Sony President of Worldwide Studios, has confirmed via Twitter that the PlayStation 4 will not use a power brick. Instead, the power supply will be housed internally, not unlike the Xbox One.

Additional details regarding the PlayStation 4's power supply and how the company managed to fit it within the console's relatively small casing are still unknown, but at least we have a better idea of what Sony has in store for us later this year.

without a power brick means it's more efficient as less energy is lost as heat

wok thats kinda good, but i hide mine away so i dont actually care to be honest.

Same, i dont understand why most people just do that, when i pack it up to bring it somewhere, I wrap both plug end and lead ends around the power brick, saves space and to be honest I'm not at all fussed to do it. :)

Wart Unless this has great cooling, expect overheating.

It's a new generation, I'm guessing it will have some sort of cooling, if it doesn't, well, waste of money if its just gonna overheat and give in.

MW2-Rush I am glad the Power brick is internal, because when taking my xbox 360 to my cousins house, the power brick takes up a lot of space. So, I am happy to see its internal.

I have had the same problems with taking my Xbox 360 on holidays with me. The power brick took up a lot of space in my bag and i could barely fit it.

Personally I would prefer the power supply to be external, that way if it ever fails it's simple to replace. Not to mention I would hide it away under my desk if it was external because they don't really take up much space.

I'm sure they will have a very good cooling system, they have learnt from their mistakes.

A am guessing you are forgetting about the PlayStation 2 and also the PlayStation 1, both consoles sold more than the Xbox 360 and original Xbox combined. People like yourself need to stop this **** both consoles will be great and everyone is gonna get the console like that so when people like you post silly stuff like this it just makes you like a fool.

As for the news post -

I like the idea as power bricks do take up a bit of room but as other people have said it could cause overheating.

Very true, im a microsoft fan, and i totally agree, i had the playstation 1 and 2, and have played the 3, and they are extremely good consoles, and so are the xbox's they should both turn out great.

Sony makes consoles equal to the quality of Microsoft in my opinion. I don't understand why people have to choose one or the other. You can like both companies even if you pick the Xbox One over the PS4. Both consoles have internal power-bricks also
