Wii U gets a minor firmware update

Nintendo has released another firmware update for the Wii U covering improvements to stability and usability.


The latest update now allows the Wii U to connect to the Nintendo Network while in standby mode, in order to download SpotPass data, system and software updates.

Software updates will install while the Wii U is off, but system updates will complete installation when the console is switched on.

The patch notes point to another update to the system that is expected sometime between late September and early October. This update is said to be larger, with plans to further increase the speed of the system, while adding new features. Details of these new features remain unknown at this time.

I've stopped enjoying all Nintendo franchises since the release of the Wii, the motion control destroyed everything.


I wasn't a fan of the motion controls are either. I mostly played GameCube games on the Wii so I was mostly using the GameCube controller.


ya only good game on the wii was mario kart


Super Smash Bros Brawl was also a pretty good game, but I never used the Wii remote to play, always used the GameCube controller because I was more used to it from SSBM.


My favourite game for the original wii was Guitar Hero III World Tour.

i have lost my faith in Nintendo seen as the next gen consoles are comming and i don't think they could match it

The WiiU certainly falls a little short to the Next Generation Consoles due to the lack of games and low hardware specifications. Hopefully the console still appeals to the casual gaming audience though.

how can the wiiu compete in the market lol. xbox one and ps4 are already sold on for launch.. the wii u never came close to that.. the wii u is declining in sales... preety sure xbox and ps4 are only gonna go up..


They only stay afloat because the market is there. Many people see Wii products as novelty items.


The Wii U is like the PSP (a portable console) only that it projects onto a screen for other people to see the only difference is that the PSP had better games and to be honest if i have a Wii or a DS then i would not get the Wii U. Nintendo have been on a decline for ages.

It is your opinion that the Wii U is terrible, they could have did way better on it, but it isn't terrible. It has so many fun exclusives and I kinda like it. It is fun just to get on and waste time, but yet again I only played it a few times, I do not own one.
