Xbox One bundles to release in summer 2014 without Kinect – report

Xbox One bundles will be made available in summer 2014 without Kinect, according to an anonymous course speaking with Machinima’s Inside Gaming.

The source told the site there will be two bundles made available: a standard bundle without Kinect, and a budget version containing an Xbox One with a smaller hard drive to undercut the price of PS4.

Inside Gaming notes, rightly, that such a report contradicts Microsoft’s assertion that the console won’t function without Kinect installed. If it will work without the camera, this means the launch bundles are a ploy to get Kinect in the homes of early adopters.

Xbox One will release this November at a price point of around $500 – give or take depending on retailer.

I envy you. Hoping to get a custom build by the year 2080. I've been saving for the past year and still no bueno.

Anyway, if they're removing the bloody kinect, then you're probably going to see a $100 price drop.

they want that money. As you see the price drops in 2014 kinda by a lot.

The manufactoring cost to make the Kinect 2.0 is just as much as the console itself, I doubt it'll be $20 cheaper...

Kinect for Xbox 360 cost like $199? so if they're released Xbox One without Kinect for $299 they'd easily win

Yin Well, this just got kind of confusing. It is from an anonymous source, so it should be taken lightly. If it is true though, I just don't understand. Will the first set of Xbox One's require the Kinect? Will it only require it until the new Xbox One's comes out? Or, will they not require it at all? I guess only time will tell, but that information would be nice to know ahead of time.


If it is true, and it doesn't require Kinect from the get-go then I'm going to be annoyed. One of the reasons why I'm waiting a year to get the new console is this exact reason, so I don't have to buy it with a stupid camera that I don't want. Also, they would have lied to the consumer, and I'm sure that won't get down well.

They are already winning. Without the Kinect they will be selling even more.


i think they should let you pre order an xbox one without kinect...
