PS Plus not required to record & stream PS4 games, says Yoshida

Sony Worldwide Studios boss and Twitter info desk Shuhei Yoshida revealed PS4 owners won't require a PlayStation Plus subscription to access the system's game recording and streaming functions. After yesterday's news that the Xbox One's Game DVR recording is tied to Xbox Live Gold, several Twitter users asked Yoshida if Plus was needed for the PS4's similar functionality. Yoshida not once, not twice, but thrice replied in the negative.

When approached, A Sony Computer Entertainment UK spokesperson told Joystiq a PS Plus subscription doesn't confer any extra functionality regards recording and streaming games. As confirmed to CVG, the PS4 can continually record 15 minutes of gameplay in the background, which users can edit and publish online, as well as stream video.

Give it a rest, since when have Sony EVER copied Microsoft? Who were the ones who created their original console based on the success of the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2? Microsoft!

This information has probably been set in stone for months, it's being released now because people are likely inquiring about it, even if they are just trying to point score against the Xbox One, it's working. All intelligent gamers that have no reason to purchase an Xbox One (exclusives, accounts and such) are buying the PlayStation 4, they have the mature demographic now, and Xbox will be stuck with the kids that can never be parted from their Xbox's because they've grown up with one since their parents bought it for them.

Unfortunately I and many others have no choice but to purchase the Xbox One, because of the only good exclusive it has, Halo (even Halo 4 was atrocious however). If you're going to purchase one of them, do it for good reason, not because you're a stubborn child (not directed specifically at you) that puts his fingers in his ears every time someone tries to explain why the PlayStation 4 is superior on the basis of facts.


Come on mate don't be stupid. How do you have no choice? because you buy a console based on one single game niiicee. Please tell me a good reason to buy the one because yours is atrocious.

I agree, but there is still one difference between the companies. Reliability. Microsoft has been successful with Xbox Live, while Sony has a hard time maintaining their online account system.

Just because TTG posts the xbox news first, doesn't mean that Sony make the decision after Microsoft.

Sony is losing money already, they should be doing the same thing as Microsoft, I know Microsoft are money hungry and they shouldn't be because they are one of the richest countries, but it makes sense to charge because it costs the companies so much to run everything.
