Xbox Live Gold Family Pack will transition to individual accounts soon

4.6
Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live Gold Family Packs will be phased out, with each participant receiving their own account.

In a new FAQ, the company states that the transition will occur as early as August 27, and that each of a family's individual memberships will inherit the remaining Gold time on their Gold Family Pack account.

In addition, each new individual membership will be granted a bonus three months.

The transition follows the announcement that a single Xbox Live Gold account can be used by an entire household on Xbox One.

The new system, called 'Home Gold', allows the subscriber to designate a 'home' Xbox One with unviersal Gold privileges, meaning any Xbox Live account on that system can benefit from your Gold status.

When Live Gold Family Packs are transitioned, access to activity monitoring reports and Microsoft Points allowances will be disabled.

Microsoft will begin the Xbox Live Marketplace's transition from Microsoft Points to real-world currencies in 'late 2013', the company has confirmed.

I've never used the Gold family pack before but it seemed a little silly. Glad to see it going.

Toll Wow this can't happen! My uncle, brother, grandparents, and me use this! I don't want to buy my own gold! Oh well I am 14 I will have to learn responsibility soon anyways!

I sense sarcasm in this post... Especially due to the fact they your profile says your 23...

It's pretty unfortunate for many people that they are phasing it out. I never used it myself seeming that i am the only one in my house that plays xbox

I don't know many people that use it but this is unfortunate for the people that do.

-CP I bet Microsoft lost money by allowing this.

Not that many people used it And on the xbox one you can share your gold. So it's cheaper.

Frog I think it was quite a stupid Gold Pack anyways. I can't imagine many families bought it...

I agree, they may as well share one account. Save a lot of money.

It was geared more towards familys with multiple xboxs. thus you can use the same account on all of them at the same time.
