Ryse multiplayer will have microtransactions

4.6
Ryse: Son of Rome will feature microtransactions to fast track multiplayer progression, according to a report.

A Microsoft producer has confirmed with VideoGamer.com that while Ryse's multiplayer component will feature its own in-game currency for progress unlocks, users can also pay real world money.

"When we talk about the progression system for multiplayer, it's armour-based," the producer told the site at Gamescom during a demo.

"The way that you get armour is very similar to how you get it in like Mass Effect or FIFA," he continued. "You only earn gold while playing multiplayer [and] you use that gold to buy booster packs. Those booster packs contain random sets of loot. Based on the different tiers of loot that you get - whether you buy Bronze, Silver or Gold Packs - guarantees whether you get rare or common items.

"One of the things that we did a little different is that you can buy them with in-game currency and real world currency. The difference is that if you're close we also have small microtransactions.

"Say for instance a gold pack costs 15,000 gold, [and] you've only got 12,500 you can actually buy the difference and only spend a little bit to make it go to a Gold Pack. So we offer some variety there."

Crytek unveiled Ryse's co-op multiplayer mode on Tuesday in the form of Gladiator mode, which will pit players against "ever-changing hordes of enemies" in a Coliseum environment.

Ryse is among over 20 Xbox One launch titles. In our preview, we said "combat is going to need tightening up if Ryse's battles are to have the substance to match its spectacle."

Oasis Well done Crytek =/
You've actually managed to ruin what could of been fun multiplayer...before the game is even out!!

When will they learn? Microtransactions put legit players off playing..at all.

How did this "ruin" it? It helps people out that aren't the greatest.

Gaming has always been about competing, even in co-op there is competition between players, if a player lacks the skill to compete then they should not buy handicaps as a temporary fix, it lowers the overall standard of available competition. Instead they should get better at it or go and play something else.

You might find my words harsh but skill/item microtransactions were born out of the idea that below par players could 'stay in the game' when really in reality all it does is give them false hope, help line companies pockets and make legit players completely (and unfairly) have to face up against over weaponized, over perked tanks of players just because they couldn't be bothered.

In that case, give the game away, if you can't be bothered to earn rewards then give it to someone who will!

I understand, I'm not bad at any games I play(besides FIFA I suck at that)
But if the company can make money and make people happy(noobs) why not go for it.
