Titanfall will not have microtransactions, says Respawn

4.5
Microtransactions have run amok at gamescom, but here’s some good news, as Titanfall developers Respawn have stated quite categorically that that business model just isn’t for them.

Respawn community manager Abbie Heppe spoke to VideoGamer and had a simple answer to the microtransaction question: “That’s not us.”

At the moment the team is focusing on getting the game out before considering where they might take it in the future. Although it seems likely, there aren’t any plans in place just yet to turn Titanfall into a franchise.

Heppe also didn’t rule out the possibility of additional content later in the game’s lifespan, but maintained that these will not be delivered through microtransactions.

This is good news. During gamescom it’s been announced that Battlefield 4, Ryse: Son of Rome, The Elder Scrolls Online, and many other games will include microtransactions.

Titanfall launches on Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC next Spring.

Hopefully, I will be getting it too :)

This is great news, I hate how BO2 has single camo packs. I think they should all be put in one big pack.

This is really good news, it just makes it more affordable for us. I think this game will be very good and I am glad they are not money hogs like other developer companies I know of *cough**cough*Treyarch.

Dr-J
Kurumu What is a microtransaction? Is it like PlanetSide2 where you can buy weapons/armor/upgrades?

Yes, basically. Where if you want an armor you're able to buy it.

But thank god that's not in this game

I know right Dr! Thank god.

Sounds good, because if there is DLC it will be free. ;)

I can only assume that means either it won't have DLC or it won't have much DLC. Doesn't really sound good in my opinion, but at least this isn't a game I am looking forward to as much as another game. I will most likely get this later, but it's not a must-have for me.
