Activision to continue supporting Wii U

4.4
Activision publishing boss Eric Hirshberg has said the firm plans to continue supporting Wii U and that if the company can add to the platform’s appeal it “absolutely will”.

Speaking in an interview with CVG, Hirshberg said Nintendo has been a great partner in the past, despite some of the company’s hardware “hits and misses.”

“Nintendo has been a great partner for us. It’s had hardware hits and misses in the past, but it has always found ways to remain completely relevant,” he said. “It has some of the best game-makers in the world, and I wouldn’t count them out.

“Nintendo is a very successful company but obviously having a rough go with the Wii U launch thus far. I’m sure Nintendo and the rest of the industry wanted a different result for the Wii U, but if we can add to the appeal of the platform then we absolutely will.”

Hirshberg said success for Wii U, and all companies for that matter, are integral to the industry as a whole and he wants to see everyone succeed.

“I want all of the great games in this industry to succeed because more people will be playing games and that’s better for all of us,” he said.

One of Activision’s most successful franchises, Skylanders: Giants, was released on Wii and Wii U alongside PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012 and its follow-up, Skylanders: Swap Force, will also release on Nintendo consoles in October.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will also be released on Wii U in November.

slapshot101 I think that they will only keep supporting the Wii U until they drop support for the 360 and PS3 because they have the same general specs but the next generation other consoles are way ahead of the Wii U so they will only do it until they more to exclusive next gen consoles.

The wiiU os a worthless console, they should have never put it out, there marketing team should have known that

You never know tho man it could of been a top seller for them ...

As I posted in other sections of the news I can see Nintendo making another console but thats if they drop this whole WiiU thing they are adament that the WiiU is going to sell and in all honesty it isn't I have seen the charts of the WiiU compared to PS3 and Xbox 360 they are not good even compared to the PS4 and the XB1 they are short by a land slide. But I am glad that Activision are going to continue to support the WiiU the only reason I reckon is because Vondehaar has a WiiU Lmao.

*is. I mean it would have been good a couple of years ago. But with Xbox one and ps4 it won't even get close to 20 sales a year.
