Call of Duty: Ghosts tracking to be 'most pre-ordered' game of year

Gamestop's VP of merchandising has put the kibosh on Call of Duty not being its blockbuster self this year.

"Call of Duty is an entertainment juggernaut and cultural phenomenon. We are excited for the upcoming release of the new installment of this blockbuster franchise, Call of Duty: Ghosts," said Gamestop exec. Bob Puzon. "We look forward to celebrating the worldwide November launch of this great game that is on track to be the most pre-ordered title of the year."

The statement by the mega retailer comes as a slight surprise, given the annualized release of the series had yet to show fatigue, especially in the face of next week's Grand Theft Auto 5 launch.

Last month, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg was quite clear that pre-orders for Ghosts were "well below the record-setting pace set by Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 last year."

"Our quantitative consumer research indicates that hesitation amongst past COD pre-orderers is primarily due to not knowing which platform they will be playing on, which is natural at this time in the console transition," said Hirshberg recently, referring to the imminent launches of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Flag No way. CoD just wants to look like they're going to put out a good game. Google search top pre-ordered games and click the 1st link. GTA 5 has 1.5 million pre-orders and ghosts has 459k. tracking to be most preordred game my ass. LOL


GTA 5 is only being released on two systems. CoD Ghost is being relased on 5 consoles, and PC.

GTA 5 comes out in about 1 week. CoD Ghost comes out in about 2 months.

People still don't know what console they're buying Ghost on, and people are probably going to wait until the last minute to preorder.

I'm with you there. I'm getting the hardened edition on x360 and the standard on x1. Not all of my friends can afford a new console yet, so purchasing it on both gens allows me to play with all my friends regardless of console. I love that all your stats carry over back and forth between x360 and x1. A lot of people are doing the same as us. So many people now pre-ordering 2 copies could be the reason that the pre-order numbers are seeing such a rapid incline.

I agree I think the way they see it as infinity ward have very experienced workers and every cod game has hundreds of people making it and then you have tryarch and for mw3 you have sledge hammer games and infinity ward

Maybe, but some mother may not want their kid robbing banks and beating up old ladies. The parents could think cod is good because it's like a war game.

suck? lol CoD is the easiest game to get kills on. It's sole purpose is to make little 12 year olds think they're top **** when really they're not.
I play battlefield almost every day. I play CoD maybe once every 2 months online, and when i do, im always on top no word of a lie.


It's not about kills. Skill is measured by K/D ratio. I doubt yours is even positive. I play CoD and BF. There are some kids on both. Neither has more or less. You can lie all you want because you feel the need to trash talk CoD as though that makes BF look better but it does not. I am 31 years of age. My friends are all within a few years of my age. I have some friends that play Battlefield but everyone I know plays Call of Duty. As far as degree of difficulty, Battlefield is FAR easier. My 11 and 15 year old nephews can top the list every time they play Battlefield.
