Call of Duty: Ghosts tracking to be 'most pre-ordered' game of year

Gamestop's VP of merchandising has put the kibosh on Call of Duty not being its blockbuster self this year.

"Call of Duty is an entertainment juggernaut and cultural phenomenon. We are excited for the upcoming release of the new installment of this blockbuster franchise, Call of Duty: Ghosts," said Gamestop exec. Bob Puzon. "We look forward to celebrating the worldwide November launch of this great game that is on track to be the most pre-ordered title of the year."

The statement by the mega retailer comes as a slight surprise, given the annualized release of the series had yet to show fatigue, especially in the face of next week's Grand Theft Auto 5 launch.

Last month, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg was quite clear that pre-orders for Ghosts were "well below the record-setting pace set by Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 last year."

"Our quantitative consumer research indicates that hesitation amongst past COD pre-orderers is primarily due to not knowing which platform they will be playing on, which is natural at this time in the console transition," said Hirshberg recently, referring to the imminent launches of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Lol, I hope they can pull this off. It would be amazing, but I just don't see it happening. Ghosts is going to be pretty cool. I am eager to play it. Even if it doesn't get the most preorders or day one sales, it still will sell great.

Seriously, COD was good, And still is but everybody has stated the obvious; Its Too Repetitive. Stacked up against GTA V, A game that hasn't came out in 6 years with The Fan Favorite Los Santos. Mannnnn

I like how you just make up numbers to blurt out. According to Activision, the "vast majority" of Call of Duty players are males in their 20s. This is their target demographic. You think that a games rating determines the age group playing it? CoD and GTA are both rated M for mature. You must be of age to purchase either. There are a multitude of ways around this. It means nothing. The only people that claim CoD is full is little kids are Battlefield fanboys and people that suck at CoD. I wouldn't like it if I got killed repeatedly either. Like it or not, Call of Duty is one of the biggest games of our generation. Are there some kids on CoD? Of course, just like their are some kids on Battlefield, WoW, Halo, GTA4 and surely will be on GTA5 as well. It is universal. You just have no valid point to argue, so you fall back to this tired excuse. Simply switch to party chat, private chat, different lobby. Personally, I've never had this "problem" but it certainly seems simple to remedy. As far as "Some random Jap" WTF are you talking about? That must just be a problem on European servers.

Agreed, COD comes out every year GTA is once every 3-5 years i dont think cod stands a chance

Yeah i doubt that. I've seen so many 12-year-olds going tryhard. It's stupid.
