Xbox boss 'hopes to bring' Gears of War to Xbox One

A key Xbox exec has addressed the future of the Gears of War franchise on Xbox One.

Speaking in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, translated by DualShockers, Microsoft's Game Studios VP, Phil Spencer indicated that while the platform holder would like to see Gears return on its next console, the decisions is ultimately up to developer Epic Games.

"Gears of War is developed by Epic Games, and they've been our partners for a long time on Xbox 360," he said. "You should ask Epic Games about what they want to do.

"We haven't announced anything yet about Gears of War, but we hope to bring it to Xbox One in some form. However, there's nothing more I can tell you at this time."

Key members of the Gears of War development team, including series creator and Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski, are no longer at the studio. In October 2012, Bleszinski resigned from the Gears of War studio some two decades after joining.

This was followed by Epic Games senior producer Chris Wynn, who left to join BioWare's Mass Effect 4 team.

Gears of War director of production Rod Fergusson left the studio in August 2012.

A number of developers from Epic Games' Poland studio People Can Fly, which developed spin-off Gears of War: Judgment, also departed in October, before the resignation of board member and long-term consultant Mike Capps.

I really liked 1 and 2, but I never bought 3. I don' think it should be on xbox one.

Please no. I personally think Gears should have died after 2. They're now on their trail to follow the path of the Halo franchise. Well, my only complaint is with the Gears versus multiplayer. Never liked, and probably never will.

Yeah but the gears community is almost as bad as cod's. The devs won't be on the same page and you'll have another gears 2/ gow j catastrophe. All I want is a gears 1 update with dedicated servers and some new maps. All the original maps should stay as they'd just bring them back anyway. Gears 1 w/ updated graphics, dedicated servers, no actives, and a few new maps would suffice for me.

That wouldnt be a bad idea

More GoW sounds great, I have played most of the 1st one, and I have the second one, but I have never actually played it.

Hopefully it's something interesting, I normally love the GOW campaigns but judgment was so terrible I didn't even play through half of the campaign before never playing the overall game again.
