Upgradable cross-gen titles won't transfer single-player data

4.6
Players who participate in any of the numerous cross-gen game upgrade schemes for Xbox One and PS4 will be forced start their single-player campaigns from the beginning.

Various schemes will be in place to allow buyers of specific current-gen titles to upgrade to next-gen versions at little extra cost. But the publishers of those games have warned that single-player saved data will not be retained in the transfer.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Watch Dogs, and Battlefield 4 have been confirmed to be supported by Sony's digital upgrade policy, while UK retailer GAME has said it will offer £40 credit on Xbox 360 and PS3 copies of FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and Call Of Duty: Ghosts when traded for Xbox One or PS4 versions of the same game.

EA and Activision have confirmed that online multiplayer data for Battlefield 4 and CoD: Ghosts (respectively) will make the jump across generations - owing mainly to that progress being server-based.

But single-player save files for current-gen versions of those games, and for Assassin's Creed IV, will not be compatible with next-gen versions, it was confirmed to Kotaku today.

Ubisoft is yet to confirm if this is also the case with Watch Dogs, but it would appear likely.

Sony has confirmed that players who use its digital upgrade scheme to upgrade a physical version of a PS3 game will be required to keep the PS3 disc for insertion into the PS4 to enable gameplay.

Mentalist Argh, that means you'll have to restart all campaigns again right?

I wish it transferred the data though, it would make it easier.

I'd rather restart all campaigns again. Starting fresh for next generation!

Isn't single player data stored on your HDD though as it is not on the servers ? I know your saves upload on PS+ but unsure about Xbox.

Well I think if anyone buys a game for the current gen consoles first should be able to beat whatever game at least once b4 they get their next-gen console

Not really disappointing except for single player games such as GTA and Borderlands

BSOD well that is poop. good thing I'm staying with PC though

What lol? So this has a major effect? I swear sometimes people don't think. Explain how your SP saves were going to transfer over to a new console and work? Xbox one to the gen after may work because of the cloud but not now.
