PlayStation 4 App details and user interface shots posted

Sony has released more details on its PlayStation App which was shown off during TGS 2013 last month during Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida’s ketnote.

The app, which launches alongside PS4 later this year will allow users to “take the PlayStation experience with them” wherever they go.

It allows users to stay in touch with friends, compare trophies, view friends’ activity including recorded or live-streamed gameplay on PS4 and access the PlayStation Blog.

“It’s an application that anyone can download for free on iOS and Android devices,” Yoshida told the PS Blog. “There are a variety of things you can do with it. You can connect to your PlayStation profile, and send messages – even voice messages – to friends between your smartphone and PS4.

“A friend on PS4 can also send out an invitation for a multiplayer game, which you can then check on the App, and you can also purchase PS4 games from PlayStation Store. Your game will immediately start downloading while you’re away.”

The app also offers “second screen gameplay features” on enabled titles such as The Playroom, which comes installed on PS4.

“There are many big publishers creating their own apps for their games, like Watch Dogs or Battlefield, and that’s great,” Yoshida added. “But smaller developers can use PlayStation App to connect to PS4 and load an application, like drawing software for example, so that you don’t have to download and install a specific app on your smartphone.

“It’s open to all PS4 developers to use.”

Ortho I thought this was great, but Xbox is upgrading smart glass so it will be even better.


I never actually seen smart glass or what it is, but I heard it's really good.

I wonder how much they will change it before launch.
Most things change a bit than what they advertised before being released to the public.

Lavish The screenshot from the profile almost reminded me a bit of the nokia lumia OS. I still like it a lot though.

Just want to get to playing it already, though!

I would say about 1-2 weeks before the ps4 release.

Same here It really does look great, nice and active and live screens!


I actually check the app store every couple days just to see if it comes out a little early


I might start doing that, would be cool to mess around with.


I soooo hope that it does come out early it is definatley going to be awesome :D.
