Automatic DVR recordings tied to Achievements

The Xbox One will automatically record a clip of gameplay footage when players unlock Achievements.

That's according to an Xbox rep at the EB Expo in Australia, who described the feature to YouTuber ChampChong.

"The DVR will automatically record any Achievements that take place so whenever you unlock a Gamerscore it will automatically record how you did that so you can check it out later," said the rep.

This is apparently in addition to machine constantly recording the past five minutes of gameplay footage, which Microsoft has previously detailed.

Users will be able to review, crop and upload gameplay footage using an app in the Xbox One operating system.

The integration of Twitch into Xbox One will also enable Xbox Live Gold members to broadcast games directly to their Twitch channels, as well as view content from other streamers on Twitch.

PS4 owners will also be able to share gameplay and screenshots using the DualShock 4's 'Share' button. Neil Brown, head of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's R&D group, revealed that PS4 uses a dedicated hardware encoder to continually record the last "several minutes" of gameplay footage, without taking up any processor resources.

It doesn't say the video is automatically uploaded to YouTube, it does say you can review and crop the video, and I'm sure not everyone will get all achievements at the same place in the game in the same exact way. Actually, for a lot of achievements it can be in completely different places and in somewhat different ways. Your comment is now invalid.

Why does it always compare it to the PS4 in the last part?. It happens in nearly every xbox one article but never for the PS4 ones. Like the PS4 control having basic functions for the PC, they could of put in the last part how the 360 control did it and how Microsoft confirmed it 2 month ago that the ones control will too. Well that's my rant done.

This only records when you get the achievement. This wont stop people from modding gamerscore.


Yes but now this is extra proof to actually see if you earn it or not.


You could just say you deleted the footage. I have 40,000 gamerscore. I guarantee you I would not keep all the videos of me getting them. Maybe a very small amount.


Hmm that's true, but it will be stored in the cloud and xbox will keep it.
My 1st account was banned at 350k, wonder how many videos I would have.
