Sony won't ban PS4 consoles that arrive early to customers

Microsoft made headlines this weekend when it would not allow the few people who got Xbox One consoles sent to them ahead of its November 22nd launch date to use the product online. Microsoft executive Albert Penello later said the temporary bans on these consoles was due to the fact that the company is still trying to stomp out the final bugs in the Xbox One before the launch.

But what if, for some reason, someone gets a PS4 ahead of the U.S. launch date of November 15th, or the European launch scheduled for November 29th? Sony's President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, indicated in a Twitter post this weekend that the company won't ban any PS4 consoles that arrive to customers ahead of their launch dates.

Sony has already sent a PS4 to YouTube celebrity "Francis" to try out and the video seemed to indicate he was able to play games on the console. Sony has already announced that there will be a "day one" 300 MB software update for the console that will enable many of its features, including its ability to play Blu-ray movie discs.

lol exactly, what a desperate, lame, weak ploy for sony to try and get one more stab into microsoft before launch. I don't blame ms, the one doesn't come out for pretty much a month. that's way too early


It comes out in 10 days. Last time i checked, a month is 30-31 days


Then what is February?
February has 28 days and 29 on leap years

-Mark I don't really agree with Microsoft banning early players. I don't think they should be punished but I can see that Microsoft is still testing stuff and do not want people to see a incomplete product.

At least they are unbanning them closer to the release date.


I personally think that it was a good idea to temporarily ban early players in order to prevent leaks. I would be against it if the ban was permanent but it only lasts until the console is actually released for everyone else

Thanks man I'm glad someone else sees Sony's naughty plays. lol Remember when Sony dissed MS at e3 and gamescon during the whole DRM propaganda. I think its all pretty immature if I do say so myself.


Sony isn't doing this PSA for you MS fanboys as an attempt to get you to convert, it's a PSA saying "hey we don't care that you got it early, enjoy!" If Sony wanted to bash MS, there are waaaay better reasons. BTW, you mention E3 as though Sony is a bad group for making jokes at microsofts expense, just an FYI moment, Sony gave free PS4s to all handicapped people at the GAME Expo in Australia because the building the expo was held in didn't have a way to get people up several flights of stairs. Microsoft on the other hand just dismissed each handicapped person with an apology statement.


Didn't MS say that his console will be unbanned? Oh wait they did PS fanboy. I like both and will be getting both but he did break the code of conduct by releasing info before the release. They banned him because the product isn't completed yet. Please learn more facts before you assume things.

It is quite hilarious that the M$ fanboys get so mad so quickly. Not to mention 357 immediately assumes I'm a PS fanboy, for defending Sony's stance on this situation, despite me like-ing and getting both consoles. 357 didn't mention any facts that I hadn't known, I just didn't mention them due to them not needing to be part of my point at hand which was that Sony doesn't mind if you play early on their console if you get it early somehow, they just don't care unlike M$ who bricked a console until its released date. M$ is being very protective and defensive at the moment and doesn't seem like they will let up
