Battlefield 4 developer Dice has announced plans to host a double XP week as compensation for the shooter's troubled launch.

From November 28 until December 5, players will earn Double XP for every multiplayer match they complete, announced Dice boss Karl Magnus Troedsson in a statement.

Players will also receive a special weapon upgrade as an additional treat: "On December 5 we will give all players that log in to Battlefield 4 multiplayer a M1911 pistol scope," said Troedsson. "This special sidearm scope, previously reserved for our DICE developers, has a 3X zoom and is available for all classes in Battlefield 4."

The game has been plagued with various critical issues since launch, including server instability, corrupt save data, XP loss and complete crashes.

"The game has experienced some turbulence during the launch period," admitted Troedsson. "While some platforms have had only minor problems, others have had more than their fair share of issues.

"Resolving the launch issues is our #1 priority. In fact, we are so serious that we have the entire team working to stabilize the game and we will not move on to other projects until we are sure that Battlefield 4 meets - and exceeds - your expectations."

Developer Dice said it has fixed the "most common" stability issues with the PS4 version of Battlefield 4 via a server-side 'hotfix' on Friday. A full title update is scheduled for release on Monday, November 25.
