'Minecraft' creator says no plans for a Wii U version

Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson addressed recent rumors Friday that a Wii U version of the popular open-world sandbox game was in the works. While he did put the kibosh on the rumor, he did leave a glimmer of hope for owners of the Nintendo console.

"I am not aware of any plans to release a Wii U version of Minecraft," Persson stated on Twitter account.

"I agree a Wii U version would make sense, [by the way]," the Mojang co-founder continued. "The only reason for no current plans is we've got too much work already. I

That's why. It sold pretty bad.


Still a lot of people play it, but i strongly agree with you. Not a good time to release the console.

daRealRush Even if Minecraft was to come to the Wii U, it wouldn't sell much. Not that many people have a Wii U. So, I don't think many people will be disappointed.


That is true. Many people wont have to worry about this. Only 500k to 1 million.


Yeah, I know one person with a Wii U. And he says he personally doesn't care much for the thing. Also, I think the controls will be kinda bad. It will definitely be hard to get used to the controls!

Well i'm sure they have larger projects on the horizon at the moment, maybe they will consider putting this into place in the future

This is a good idea because a lot of little kids love this game and they all have WiiU's so its a perfect combination! Too bad it probably won't happen.

As a Wii U owner, I personally don't give a damn about Minecraft on Wii U. It's already out on every other console in the entire universe (I own it on PC, Xbox, and iOS), and most people already have it. I'd rather buy a Wii U exclusive like Monster Hunter 3 or Wonderful 101 than pay $20 or more for yet another port of fricken' Minecraft.

Making it for Wii U would offer them no profit what so ever the console
itself does not bring forward any profits on its own
