Windows 9 'Threshold' reportedly coming in April 2015

Good news for those who loathe Windows 8: Microsoft is rumored to be making an announcement regarding Windows 9 during BUILD 2014 in April.

According to SuperSite for Windows, which specializes in posting everything public and secret regarding Microsoft products, the Windows-maker plans on releasing the new operating system in April 2015.

Currently being worked on under the moniker “Threshold”, the pre-alpha build of the OS will be made available to developers after BUILD 2014, and will consist of three milestone releases before it’s sent to manufacturing.

“Threshold” is also believed to be an update to Windows 8 following “Blue”, which would bring together Windows PC, Windows Phone and Xbox One operating systems.

Cymru I don't get why everyone hates Windows 8 so much, It fixed all of my problems that I had on W7. Sure it UI is terrible, but install the start menu mod and everything's practically the same.


You said it for yourself, "Sure the UI is terrible".

I don't personally think it sucks, it's just people don't like change, which Windows 8 has a lot of.


im not to bothered about windows 8 but i do agree the UI is pretty Bad

It's all down to the UI. If Windows 8 looked like Windows 7, then we'd all be using it.


Exactly. Windows 8 is better than 7, functionality wise. But the UI is god awful, unless of course you are using a tablet. Then it would be great. Maybe they will learn from this and make two version. Windows 9 and maybe Windows Touch or something.


Well Windows 8 for designed for touchscreen. So with a mouse n KB. It's is total trash. 8.1 didn't do anything to help wither.

Exactly. Windows 8 is better than 7, functionality wise. But the UI is god awful, unless of course you are using a tablet. Then it would be great. Maybe they will learn from this and make two version. Windows 9 and maybe Windows Touch or something.

I hated windows 8 at the beginning, now I'm fine with it. I still miss Windows 7.

Personally, I have always loved windows 8, Especially with tablets.

Windows 8 is a great mobile operating system, but I find it horrible for desktops. Those stupid tiles.


I have to agree. While windows 8 may work with some touch screen devices i personally don't think it works well when you need to use a keyboard and mouse. I am not sure what has changed with windows 8.1 though as i have not used it before
