Microsoft "Turning Xbox One 10% Reserved GPU For OS To 2%"

4.6
Microsoft may offer more breathing room for developers making games for the Xbox One, according to industry insider Pete Dodd who has proven to be extremely reliable before.

10% reserved gpu getting turned into 2% soon. And with that, I’m on my last bar leaving Puerto Rico. See ya soon if St. Thomas has sprint.

“Gpu for that certain system had 10% reserved. 8% video. 2% voice. Voice will remain. That video 8% will be up to devs. As it should be.

Currently 10% of the Xbox One GPU is reserved for OS functions and Kinect and it looks like that will be reduced to 2% soon, giving developers more power.”

While this does not seem much and won’t make the Xbox One equivalent to the PS4 in processing power, every bit helps. Microsoft had earlier also increased the CPU clock speed.

Another insider Ahsan Rasheed called this a “great news for Xbox fans”. Take this is a rumour for now but these insiders have a good track record with Xbox One related stuff.

I need to just sell my 360. Xbox One doesn't seem worth it either.

iPhoneWiz I sold my xbox, and built a computer...

Same with me! *High five*

Guys,

I'm serious. The Xbox One is nice, but it's so last gen. I played on my friends pc that he built for 550. It ran BF4 on Ultra with 75 FPS. That was a beautiful moment.

Not possible for only 550 in any currency to run 1080p+ BF4 ultra. The GPU needed would have to be $300+ with a CPU that is $200+, or cheaper GPU and CPU with more expensive cooling solution for over clocking to get more FPS. Not to mention the extra price a keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor, RAM, PSU, case, DVD drive, and motherboard. My last build, that I recently sold, cost me $3,000 to build and was only "state of the art" for a few years.

It's easily possible. I have one set up for $450 (roughly) that runs better than the Xbox One.
-AMD Athlon II X2 370K 4.2GHz Dual-Core: $56.23
-Zalman CNPS5X Performa: $14.99
-ECS A75F2-A2(1.0) ATX FM2: $60.66
-Patriot Signature 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1333: $76.99
-Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM: $59.66
-Asus Radeon HD 7770 1GB: $100.66
-Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower: $49.99
-Corsair 430W ATX12V: $29.99
Total: $449.17

Can run games on high-ultra settings in 1080p (same or better than Xbox One)

That user said 75 FPS, not lower.

550 is without the monitor, speakers, keyboard, OS, mouse, Hard Drive, and 2x8gb ram cards.

Looks like I was correct. PC gaming is better in every aspect, except price (usually). Just remember that the ONE and PS4 have spectacular capabilities, but a $1000 PC will obviously beat it.

I might have to do the same thing.

That's nice but you have to factor in upgrading every 3ish years or so, depending on whether you decide to upgrade a small piece at a time or a new rig altogether.

Still cheaper when you consider how cheap PC games are and to dont have to pay for a membership.

But what you save on memberships and cheaper games you spend on parts, sometimes yearly.

Yup. Also, If you upgrade every 3 years, you hardware will keep becoming more, and more powerful. To the point where it's realistic.

Consoles just stay the same for years. I suspect that the next amazing graphics card will be able to render real life images into Real Time on PC's.
