Killer Instinct introduces Jail system to punish quitters

4.5
Killer Instinct developer Double Helix has detailed the next patch for its Xbox One free-to-play fighting game, which includes a "Jail" system used to punished quitters.

The Jail system punishes players whose disconnect percentage goes above 15 percent for a minimum of ten matches.

When sent to Jail, offending players will only be able to play online against other Jail players for 24 hours. Each time a player is sent to Jail the amount of time increases by 24 hours.

Double Helix recently made new character Spinal available to owners of the Ultra Edition and the Combo Breaker pack.

Here are the full update details:

Jail
  1. The first time your disconnect percentage goes above 15 percent you go to JAIL
  2. A 10 match minimum is required
  3. JAIL lasts for 24 hours. During this time you can only be matched against other JAIL members
  4. Each time you go to JAIL the amount of time increases by 24 hours (capped at 5 days - 120 hrs)
  5. While in JAIL your profile icon will be automatically changed to a custom JAIL icon to let you know you are in JAIL
  6. When your JAIL time is up, you go back into the public again (even if your disconnect percentage is back over 15%)
  7. However, when back in public, if you disconnect and you are still above 15 percentage you go directly back to JAIL
  8. For any match that sends you to JAIL, player will take a loss

A list of general fixes has also been released:

General Fixes
  1. Ultra Combo audio distortion: Fixed an issue where users would hear audio distortion during ULTRA COMBO sequences.
  2. Training mode: Several issues have been fixed to make sure that the AI will react accurately towards the settings of the player.
  3. Matchmaking: Ranked search will now properly search for the ranks nearest to your rank, then slowly expand its ranked search range over 1 min.
  4. Exhibition invite: Fixed an issue when you tried to join an invite and it would fail because it was waiting for you to leave your previous session.
  5. Player rank display: Fix spelling errors in "Journeyman" and "Baller" Rank Title graphics.
  6. Hosting bug: Fixed hosting an Exhibition Match while player rank was above 20.
  7. Ranking up and down display: Potential Rank Up / Rank Down messages will no longer stay on the screen if the opponent disconnects during the match.
  8. Win/loss display: Fixed post-match screen showing incorrect win/loss in Exhibition Match.
  9. Rank animation bar: Ranking bar animation on loss has been fixed, and will now properly display.

This is a pretty cool system, but I would hate if my internet went out and I ended up in jail.

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm did something like this except you wouldn't be able to find games like Bo2.

Lavish This is great.
Reminds me of the rage quit system Mw3 had.

Black Ops 2's probation system was also pretty nice. It just sucked that when you kept getting disconnected you'd get probation.

Ugh the game doesn't look to good to be honest. Skipping this one.
