Square Enix has announced that a special edition Final Fantasy XIV PS4 will soon be available to pre-order in Japan.

The limited edition console has been made to coincide with the release of the PS4 version of the game, which will launch worldwide on April 14.

Only 1400 of the laser-engraved PS4 systems - which were shown off by producer Naoki Yoshida during a Square Enix livestream last night - will be created. No price or release date has been confirmed, but Japanese gamers will soon be able to pre-order one at the Sony store.

The news coincides with the release of Through the Maelstrom, the free version 2.2 patch for A Realm Reborn made available in all regions today.

The PS4 version of A Realm Reborn includes a number of new features including enhanced visuals, Remote Play on Vita, DualShock 4 touchpad controls and the option to play using a mouse and keyboard.

Players who own the PS3 version of A Realm Reborn will be able to transfer their account to the PS4 version for free starting on April 11, but once transferred they'll no longer be able to play the PS3 version.
