Battlefield 4 server upgrade 'improves rubber-banding issues'

DICE has deployed new higher-performance servers to combat Battlefield 4 rubber-banding issues.

Earlier this month, following the release of the latest Battlefield 4 DLC, the studio acknowledged that problems with lag were affecting users on certain platforms during 64-player online matches.

"We've found that the root cause of the issue was a configuration of certain hardware types," DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson explains in a new blog post. "We have invested in new hardware to resolve this issue and deployed new higher-performance servers this week.

"In preparation, we conducted a significant amount of testing before installing the new servers to ensure they would correct the issue. We are already seeing performance improvement with 64-player matches and expect this to continue.

"While the process took longer than we would've liked," Troedsson adds, "we wanted to be 100% sure it was done right and that the long-term solution was properly in place. Our objective is to deliver the best player experience possible. We feel this solution helps us deliver that to you."

In mid-April, DICE said it was investigating what has become known online as the Battlefield 4 'Death Shield' bug. As explained in the video below, the bug in question occurs when a revivable body acts as an invisible shield for projectiles
