Microsoft has announced that they intent to start providing refunds to those who are currently paid Xbox Live Gold subscribers and wish to revert to gold if they only use entertainment applications now not behind the golden paywall. Gamers who wish to cancel and get a refund have until August 31st 2014 to ask Microsoft for a return on their membership.

Once the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates become available in June, Xbox Live Gold members who purchased a paid membership before that day can cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused remaining days between the date of cancellation and the date their paid Gold membership ends,” reads the updated FAQ.

Cancellation and pro-rata refund requests require six to eight weeks for processing. Free or trial Gold memberships are not eligible for a refund.Microsoft

They offer this refund because so little people will actually request a refund because there a very few people out there who just bought Gold for the entertainment apps, if they wanted to watch Netflix, they just watched on their computer or DVD players. It's nice they are offering but I think they should receive a full refund in their claim is legitimate, and they did only buy it for the entertainment.

xSTaTiCBLuEx The fact that you still have to pay for gold on the XBOX 360 is an outrage when we know the are preparing to close all servers for it and stop all servicing for it. Disgusted...the fee is supposed to be for maintenance and the use of the servers etc. (although game devs pay for those too..) so in the end we will be paying your for the sake of it...

MVPapi My brother only really uses his PS3 to watch TV and everything else, he hardly plays games on it. So for people doing the same with Xbox, that's pretty cool


yeah same here. i never play games on mine.


I still play games id prefer to watch netflix and tv on my computer.

tons of people will cheat it. microsoft will have to find a way to prevent that
