Far Cry 4 will include "a lot more multiplayer" than Far Cry 3, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.

The first game included a four-player co-op campaign that was separate from the main game. Though the campaign depicted a single storyline, it was divided into multiple episodes in the style of Left 4 Dead.

Guillemot did not specify how that will affect Far Cry 4, but Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez expanded on the company's overall philosophy for multiplayer, GameSpot reports.

"We are moving to make games that are extended over longer periods, so in those games, we not only want to sell more [units], but we want to sell more items, more content," Martinez said. "That's one of the challenges of course, but that's what we're seeing some other players have successfully done."

Ubisoft expects Far Cry 4 to perform even better than Far Cry 3, which has sold 9 million units since it released in December 2012. The game trades the tropical jungles of previous games for the fictional Himalyan country of Kyrat, according to the official information released so far:

"Once again, players will be able to craft their own stories as they travel through this exotic open world teeming with wildlife - using their wits along with an assortment of powerful weapons and diverse vehicles."

The Far Cry 4 release date is set for November 18 in North America and November 21 in Europe on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
