eBay hack exposes database alongside personal info
4.4
Popular online auction site eBay has reported that it experienced a major incident back in early spring involving their site itself being hacked and compromising their internal database alongside personal information of it's user base. The attackers gained their access through a series of compromised employee accounts, eBay is now warning users to change their passwords. The website is responsible for over $200 billion of global commerce last year alone while being represented in over 1000 cities worldwide.
eBay regrets any inconvenience or concern that this password reset may cause our customers. We know our customers trust us with their information, and we take seriously our commitment to maintaining a safe, secure and trusted global marketplace.eBay
You act like they wanted to get hacked, The best security in the world isn't fool proof or impregnable every thing has a weakness.
I agree with you that any security is vulnerable but they could have handled it a little bit better, it took them 3 months to tell people to change their passwords.
3 months is kinda long and anyway now less people will trust that site
well considering ebay is one of the most visited shopping websites would you not expect better security? i also agree that 3 months is way to long to inform people about what had occurred.
It seems like everything is being hacked right now...
Hacking ebay is a new one, seems kinda dumb though. There isnt much to do with any stolen information.... you just call a bank or credit card company and have a card closed.
In case anyone is wondering about selling an xbox one on ebay, you might be charged $100 just cause you sold it on ebay and they want like 20% of sales... so use like craigs list...
