Xbox One Controller Drivers For Windows PC Coming “Very Soon”

PC users more comfortable with the dual-analog controller for their gaming needs can look forward to some interesting news from Microsoft ‘very soon.’

Windows PC drivers for the Xbox One’s controller are coming “Soon. Very Soon.” said Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb in a response to this NeoGAF post.

Xbox One controller compatibility for PC was initially touted last year for release some time in 2014. Currently, many PC users are settling on the Xbox 360 controller as their weapon of choice, but those looking to upgrade to Microsoft’s newest input device with ‘over 40 improvements‘ can look forward to the incoming news.

The upcoming drivers will allow all existing Xbox One controllers to plug into a PC via USB. Stay tuned for more news soon!

sweg So how will this work? Do we just plug a USB from our controller into the PC and we can play any PC game?


You just download the driver on your computer and plug in a micro USB cable to your computer and controller, and then you're ready to play.

I messed around with it a bit today and I downloaded the driver and plugged it in, it didn't work with all my games just some of them and I think that the game has to be comparable with a controller and switch that setting on in settings of the game or it won't work, but this is just my experience.

Hope they make this one work better than the 360 one. I had some bad experiences with that one.

Should be pretty awesome but I already have a 360 controller and I don't see much of a difference between the two controllers.
